Concordia University Leverages Rave to Swiftly Respond to COVID-19 Outbreak

Concordia University, a bilingual institution with roughly 46,000 students and over 6,000 staff across two downtown Montreal campuses, faced the dual challenge of quickly reaching its dispersed community while reducing irrelevant alerts and supporting discrete two‑way student reporting. In fall 2019 they partnered with Rave Mobile Safety and adopted Rave’s critical communication and collaboration platform to enable targeted, bilingual messaging and improved incident reporting.

Rave Mobile Safety implemented geo‑targeting, dorm‑level targeting, two‑way text reporting, language translation and consolidated resource distribution, allowing Concordia to notify only those affected (for example, students in a specific dorm or people currently on campus) rather than the entire community. The platform delivered measurable benefits during COVID‑19 — a seamless rollout that enabled rapid outage notifications to impacted users, reduced unnecessary alerts, and provided reliable communication to the university’s ~46,000 students and 6,000 staff, improving situational awareness and response.
