U.S. Forestry Services upgrades flight simulator training with Raritan KVM and 4K video support

The U.S. Forestry Services needed to upgrade its fourteen-year-old Wildland Fire Training Center to support modern computers and deliver high-resolution video for its crucial flight simulator training. Their legacy KVM infrastructure could not support newer video ports or resolutions. Partnering with Raritan, they sought a reliable system for out-of-band access to simulators and AV equipment across multiple rooms in the facility.

Raritan, through integrator ECS, implemented a solution featuring its Dominion KX4-101 KVM-over-IP switches and user stations. This new architecture delivered 4K video resolution and laid the groundwork for future expansion. The Raritan solution saved on power consumption and reduced the number of required hardware devices. It also eliminated fan noise through convection cooling, enhancing the realism of the flight simulators and reducing the heat load in the facility.
