A Rapid7 Case Study
Norwich University, a higher-education institution with a large and growing wired and wireless campus network, struggled to maintain visibility across its redundant infrastructure. With limited staff and an unclear inventory of Windows and Linux servers, manual audits couldn’t provide the in-depth vulnerability information the IT team needed.
The university deployed Rapid7 Nexpose, which was quick to set up and began scanning immediately, uncovering about 3,000 vulnerabilities on the first pass. Using Nexpose’s asset grouping and reporting, the small IT team eliminated roughly 1,500 vulnerabilities in two months, streamlined remediation by assigning issues to platform specialists, and gained ongoing efficiency and visibility—enabling plans to pre-scan images and adopt Nexpose’s ticketing for future tracking.
