University of Queensland automates access for 30 contractors a day with Rapid Global

The University of Queensland, a top 100 global university, faced a challenge in managing site security and contractor compliance across its large campuses. With approximately 30 contractors on site daily, their old paper-based sign-in system was inefficient and could not guarantee that only fully qualified personnel were granted access. They partnered with Rapid Global to implement a solution using Rapid Access, Rapid Induct, and Rapid Contractor Management to automate this process.

Rapid Global's solution integrated these systems with KeyWatcher cabinets to create a streamlined process. Contractors now sign in at a terminal, which checks their compliance; if approved, they receive a time-sensitive code to access a site key. This has given university management assurance that only compliant contractors gain access, prevents legal disputes from lapsed documentation, and has improved overall site security. The university is now looking to expand the Rapid system to other sites and for use by all staff.
