Case Study: Air India achieves harmonized MRO operations and improved aircraft availability with Ramco Systems

A Ramco Systems Case Study

Preview of the Air India Case Study

How Air India worked with its software vendor to make the most of its MRO IT solution

Air India consolidated the MRO and engineering functions of four government-owned carriers into a single organization (AIESL) that needed a harmonized IT solution to manage 133 aircraft, diverse fleets and regional processes. The main challenges were unifying different cultures and workflows, obtaining regulator approval, migrating mixed paper/digital data, and improving aircraft availability, inventory planning, turnaround times and supply‑chain visibility across multiple maintenance bases.

After a competitive RFP Air India selected Ramco Aviation and implemented a single MRO platform (Boeing fleet live May 2012, Airbus Nov 2012), integrated with Sabre, SAP and other systems and replacing legacy tools. The solution delivered end‑to‑end parts visibility and tracking, automated material transfers, integrated engineering/materials/finance, analytics and workflow hubs—resulting in faster procurement and shop TAT, better workload balancing, cross‑company resource use, improved compliance and the ability to cost‑effectively serve third‑party customers.
