Automating Warehouse Operations with VISY

Visy is a leading privately owned packaging and resource‑recovery group with more than 120 sites across Australasia; its Visy Logistics arm operates extensive 3PL, transport and warehousing services. Faced with COVID‑driven supply‑chain disruption and a need for greater stability and cost savings, Visy set out to automate its Epping, Victoria warehouse using Elettric80 AGVs. The project required complex, multi‑party coordination (Elettric80 in Italy, delivery teams in India and local teams in Melbourne) and about 28 integrations between the AGVs, SAP and existing systems.

Ramco delivered a cloud‑based, API‑driven logistics platform (TMS/WMS/Fleet/Billing) that was integrated with the Elettric80 AGVs to automate inbound and outbound flows. The Ramco WMS now orchestrates pick, store and dispatch tasks and passes instructions directly to AGVs with built‑in validation and error‑handling, eliminating manual intervention. The result was a successful rollout despite pandemic constraints, improved operational stability and visibility, reduced manual workload and cost savings, and a scalable automated warehouse capability powered by next‑gen AI/ML features.
