A Rakuten DX Case Study
Les Inrockuptibles, a well-known French music and culture magazine with an archive of thousands of issues since 1995, relaunched with a new visual identity but lacked a mobile-first way to access its historical titles. To fix this, Les Inrockuptibles worked with Rakuten DX, leveraging the Rakuten Aquafadas platform and automation tools to bring their extensive back catalogue to mobile readers.
Rakuten DX built a Next Gen digital-magazine app with four distinct sections, integrated thousands of archived issues, social links, and an elastic search that finds articles, titles and fine-grained mentions (for example, every Bob Dylan reference) with scrollable previews. The result is a single app unifying the Les Inrockuptibles ecosystem, improved discoverability and brand recognition via separate colour identities, and measurable commercial uplift from paid-for historical issues now available on mobile.
