A Rakuten DX Case Study

Preview of the Davis Cup Case Study

Davis Cup - Customer Case Study

Davis Cup, the international team event in men’s tennis, needed an interactive, engaging and personalized mobile experience to bring fans closer to the tournament and host cities. Rakuten DX was brought in to define and deliver those services, applying a Design Thinking approach to understand fan needs and to shape a mobile app with live scoring, personalized team news and push notifications.

Rakuten DX ran a one-week Design Thinking workshop followed by six weeks of development to deliver a two-tab personalized app (team-specific and general news), real-time live scoring and notifications. The app launched one week before the Finals and drove measurable impact: 92,853 downloads, 276,529 users, 28,432 daily sessions, a peak-hour unique user count of 1,102,544, 75% iOS usage, 29,285 hours spent, a 50% retention signal (with retention metrics reported at 73% / 54%), coverage in 186 of 254 countries, and demonstrated ticket-purchase intent—all delivered by Rakuten DX.
