Raima Embedded Database At the Heart of New Smart Grid Technology
LocalGrid Technologies needed a secure, cross‑platform embedded database to support its smart‑grid platform running on NI CompactRIO and Single‑Board RIO devices. The company required native LabVIEW support, small footprint, encryption and deterministic performance to store local device data, log events and enable remote, decentralized decision‑making across distributed energy resources. Raima’s embedded database technology (Raima Database API for LabVIEW / RDM Embedded) met these requirements.
Raima delivered a native LabVIEW embedded database that runs on CompactRIO and related targets, providing encrypted, local relational storage, fast deterministic performance and lightweight cross‑platform support. By using Raima, LocalGrid was able to push intelligence to field devices, simplify development, reduce errors, and deploy multiple units in the field (with installations planned at Exhibition Place, Toronto and trials with a major distribution utility), while Raima’s responsive support sped resolution of issues during development.
