A Radware Case Study
The client is the third-largest bank in Europe, with tens of millions of retail customers and a global footprint. As 90% of its inbound traffic became encrypted and stronger ciphers increased processing loads, the bank’s existing WAF could not decrypt, inspect and re-encrypt traffic at scale without introducing application latency. The bank needed far greater connections-per-second capacity, support for global ciphers and newer TLS versions, and enough processing power to inspect encrypted traffic without harming user experience.
After testing multiple vendors, the bank deployed Radware Alteon ADCs—eight units distributed across four data centers with a dedicated failover site—positioned in front of the WAF to offload SSL processing. Alteon outperformed competitors in throughput and connections-per-second during real-traffic simulations, enabling the bank to process high volumes of encrypted traffic without added latency, improve application performance and customer experience, and support evolving encryption protocols.
