CBC Gets Ready for Big Events with WebLOAD

CBC.ca, the English-language site of Canada’s national public broadcaster, serves roughly 70 million page views per month with daily peak hours and large spikes during major events (for example, the Federal Election section handled over 700,000 page requests in two days). Because most content is generated dynamically in real time—news, video and interactive features—CBC needed to verify how its infrastructure would perform under extreme, event-driven loads and ensure pages would render without system failure.

CBC adopted RadView’s WebLOAD for automated endurance and stress testing, replacing labor-intensive freeware. WebLOAD generated realistic peak loads with fewer resources, rapidly revealed bottlenecks (showing slowdowns rather than crashes), and produced clear analysis and reports. The move enabled overnight, unattended testing, saved the QA team up to 20% of their time, and let CBC verify the load their servers could sustain for major events.
