MRP Fabricator’s System - Customer Case Study

MRP Fabricator’s System, a mid-west structural steel fabricator, struggled with a “black hole” between shipping and on-site erection: general contractors and erectors often lacked visibility for days, assemblies went missing, and their MRP only tracked parts through shipping. Rugged job-site conditions and lack of interoperability with job-site tracking tools prevented automated status updates, so the customer engaged Radley, LLC (using Radley WorkForce Productivity/Data Collection System) to extend visibility beyond the plant.

Radley, LLC working with Design Data deployed rugged wireless batch terminals and a special device client to scan barcodes for receipt, location, erection and rejection; data is stored on the device, synced via docking/Internet to the Radley system, parsed by Radley’s Watchdog and pushed to SDS/2 to update the 3D model color by status. The result was elimination of paperwork, extension of MRP tracking to the job site, reduced project-status lag from days to near real-time, improved inventory accuracy and control, and immediate visibility for erectors and contractors.
