Securing a Large-Scale Power Plant in Central Europe

A large-scale power plant in Central Europe needed to strengthen cybersecurity across its multi-turbine, 3,000-MW coal-based operations, while avoiding network overload from sending high volumes of OT traffic to a central Security Operations Center. The operator also required secure, rule-based access control and monitoring for maintenance and production systems.

Radiflow addressed this with its iSID Industrial Threat/Intrusion Detection system, supported by iSAP Smart Collectors and iSEG RF-3180 secure gateways. The iSAP collectors reduced bandwidth consumption by up to 70% while feeding data to iSID, and the iSEG gateways added DPI firewall protection, segmentation, alerting, and authenticated access management. The solution was fully operational after baseline cleanup and rule tuning, improved monitoring of turbine operations, and is now being expanded to additional networks and power plants.
