Work for Pie, a two-person startup (co‑founded by Brad Montgomery), builds a SaaS platform that helps developers showcase portfolios and helps companies tell what it’s like to work there. Early on they faced a key challenge: handling scalable, secure storage and fast delivery for customer-uploaded images without adding heavy operational overhead to their small team.

They adopted Rackspace Cloud Files backed by Akamai CDN for fast, SSL‑served content and used python-cloudfiles and django-cumulus for easy programmatic access and seamless Django integration (including nightly backups to a private container). The result was quick implementation with minimal code changes, reliable scalable media hosting, improved site performance and a smoother development process.
