Surfline migrates to AWS with zero downtime, increased operational efficiency, and cost savings

Surfline, a North America–based sports and recreation company that powers worldwide surf and marine forecasts, needed to migrate its data‑intensive environment to Amazon Web Services (AWS) without downtime and with automated deployment and ongoing infrastructure support.

Onica’s Elastic Engineering team (Rackspace Technology) executed the migration using Chef, AWS CloudFormation, and AWS Elastic Beanstalk to simplify and automate deployments. The move delivered zero‑downtime migration, higher uptime and reliability, faster production of multiple daily automated forecasts, and reduced costs through collaboration with the Optimizer team.
