Case Study: Six Flags achieves higher availability, improved security and greater efficiency with Rackspace Technology

A Rackspace Technology Case Study

Preview of the Six Flags Case Study

Rackspace helps international theme park leader improve infrastructure, security and processes

Six Flags Entertainment Corporation, the world’s largest regional theme-park operator with $1.2 billion in annual sales and 25 million visitors across 16 parks, needed a flexible, state-of-the-art infrastructure to improve performance, availability and security as it grew. After an RFP, the company sought a provider that could handle its Drupal-driven website, e-commerce flows and tighten defenses against threats like DDoS while reducing the need to micromanage servers.

Rackspace was selected to migrate and manage Six Flags’ entire infrastructure, providing dedicated and cloud servers, RackConnect and load balancers to power the CMS and ticketing systems and to enable rapid, cost-effective scaling. Combined with DDoS mitigation partners and PCI-like security controls, the solution delivered faster recovery (site restored in under 90 minutes during a 2014 attack), higher availability, stronger data protection and greater operational efficiency.
