Parker Software, founded in 2003 in Staffordshire, UK, builds digital engagement and sales-enablement tools (including the WhosOn live chat product) for a global customer base. As their business grew they were constrained by a local Manchester data‑centre environment that suffered outages, slow performance and insufficient security—issues that threatened the “always on” expectations of their customers.
Working with Rackspace and Rackspace‑certified Microsoft experts, Parker migrated to a managed private cloud on Microsoft Hyper‑V and adopted Alert Logic’s cloud‑based threat detection with 24x7 security analysts. The new environment delivered major stability and security gains: uptime rose from 97.97% to 99.8% and scheduled maintenance fell from 15 hours to 1.5 hours (a 90% improvement).
