Nuve, an Austin-based startup in the Rackspace Startup Program, develops sensor-based asset management and fraud-prevention solutions after a chance engagement with a Mexican oil and gas firm needing fuel cargo protection. Faced with widespread theft and risk across transportation, construction, shipping and government sectors, Nuve’s engineering team built a patent-pending approach to connect, monitor and control assets in real time.

Nuve combined hardware sensors with a cloud platform and mobile app to give customers real-time alerts and remote control of assets; Rackspace (Slicehost) provided the reliable, scalable cloud infrastructure that enabled fast deployment and mobility. The result is broader industry adoption—reduced theft and optimized logistics for clients—while Nuve continues to scale its platform across shipping, rail, fleet and delivery markets.
