MCG migrates clients to Microsoft 365 amid a global pandemic

Microcomputer Consulting Group (MCG), an IT outsourcing firm serving about 100 mainly New York–area clients since 1984, faced escalating phishing, ransomware and spam attacks that their Hosted Exchange setup could no longer contain. Although some customers initially resisted change, the COVID‑19 lockdowns and a sudden shift to remote work made stronger email security and modern collaboration tools an urgent priority.

MCG partnered with Rackspace Technology to execute a phased migration to Microsoft 365, performing seamless weekend cutovers with no data loss. The move delivered stronger email protections and far less spam, plus access to Teams, SharePoint and OneDrive, which improved remote productivity and opened new licensing and service opportunities such as VoIP—positioning MCG and its clients for a more secure, flexible future of work.
