Glassdoor, a jobs and company review site that collects large volumes of data, needed to deploy a new NoSQL cluster in the cloud but hit unexpected performance problems. Rather than buy physical servers, they wanted a scalable cloud solution and used Rackspace Cloud Intelligence to diagnose why the cluster under load wasn’t meeting expectations.

Using Cloud Intelligence they identified a network I/O bottleneck and then migrated to Rackspace Performance Cloud Servers, which nearly doubled network utilization and allowed them to run fewer CPUs with more memory at similar cost. The combination of Performance Cloud Servers and Cloud Intelligence sharpened monitoring, sped troubleshooting, supported their hybrid architecture, and saved significant time compared with manual analysis.
