FreshBooks, a leading online invoicing and bookkeeping service with more than 1,000,000 users, needed to scale its infrastructure to support rapid growth while keeping focus on its core service. Already a Rackspace customer for managed hosting and email, FreshBooks faced the complexity and cost of scaling dedicated hardware to meet demand and ensure fast, reliable access for its users.

FreshBooks moved to a hybrid hosting model with Rackspace—combining Cloud Servers, Cloud Sites and Cloud Files with managed dedicated servers across two data centers—so it could offload non‑strategic infrastructure management and gain on‑demand scalability. The result was expanded capacity and faster user access, lower operating costs, and the ability for FreshBooks to concentrate on product and customer service rather than managing hardware.
