FINCAD cashes in on application modernization

FINCAD, a Canadian financial software firm that values derivatives for banks, insurers and investors, needed to modernize a legacy web application to improve performance, reduce manual server management and meet a tight timeline driven by contractual blackout windows. Facing end-of-life infrastructure and strict financial services compliance requirements, FINCAD engaged Onica (a Rackspace Technology company) for technical assistance and training to migrate the system to the cloud.

Onica moved the application to AWS, implemented infrastructure-as-code and an automated CI/CD pipeline, and added automation for security, testing, monitoring, compliance and disaster recovery, plus tailored training for FINCAD’s team. The migration let FINCAD exit the data center ahead of the blackout period, avoid a new hosting contract, cut operational errors and costs, and deliver a measurable user benefit—valuations now run about six times faster.
