Core Industries Created 1st Mandela Day Website – Receiving 100,000 Unique Visitors Worldwide

Core Industries, an interactive marketing, design and development firm with a social mission, was selected by Gotham Ad Agency to build the inaugural Mandela Day website on a four-month, shoestring budget. The site needed to speak to a global audience and support high, unpredictable traffic for a one-day event while also coordinating social channels, volunteer tools and multimedia content.

Core Industries built mandeladay.com, managed blog and social platforms, created a real-time “digital hand” wall, produced a celebrity-backed music video and ran free and pay-per-view simulcasts of the Radio City Music Hall concert, hosting the site on scalable Rackspace Cloud Servers for affordability and reliability. The campaign drove about 100,000 mostly organic unique visitors in two months, delivered strong viral reach and helped make Mandela Day 2009 a widely seen, successful launch.
