The American Geophysical Union (AGU), a 130,000‑member non‑profit advancing geoscience, was operating more than 70 WordPress sites and roughly 70,000 pages on an unwieldy Linux‑based infrastructure that was hard to scale, personalize or update. The organization needed deep Sitecore and cloud expertise, better performance monitoring, and a proactive security posture to support its journals, annual conference and broad member services.

Rackspace migrated AGU to Sitecore on AWS, consolidating 70,000 pages into a single Sitecore XP1 CMS deployed across best‑practice environments, introducing DevOps, dynamic personalization and analytics. The migration delivered a more reliable, flexible and easier‑to‑manage platform with faster page updates, improved user insights, and was followed by Rackspace’s Proactive Detection and Response security and 24x7 support to protect and operate the environment.
