Case Study: Commando.io achieves simplified server management with Rackspace Technology

A Rackspace Technology Case Study

Preview of the Commando.io Case Study

A Geekdom Startup That Simplifies Server Management

Commando.io is a startup in the Rackspace program that set out to simplify server management for teams frustrated by complex DevOps tools. Facing a market where solutions like Chef or Puppet demand steep learning curves and command-line expertise, Commando.io aimed to let non‑technical staff (support, marketing) run commands across server groups without agents or extensive training.

Using the Rackspace Managed Cloud, Commando.io delivers a beautiful, agent‑less web interface that executes commands on groups of servers and works with customers’ existing stacks and scripts, so teams can get started immediately. After pivoting from founder Justin Keller’s prior PaaS, NodeSocket, Commando.io has grown to thousands of accounts in over 80 countries, set up headquarters in Rackspace’s Geekdom San Francisco, and is positioned for continued growth and profitability.
