Gemalto, a global leader in digital security, needed a better way to tackle the complexity, cost, and risk of traditional identity management and KYC processes for banks and end users. With people juggling multiple unsafe logins and passwords, and financial institutions facing time-consuming due diligence requirements, Gemalto looked for a more secure, user-friendly approach and chose R3’s Corda blockchain platform for its Trust ID Network.

R3 helped Gemalto build the Trust ID Network as a decentralized digital identity solution on Corda, with privacy-by-design features and a mobile ID wallet for end users to control and share verified identity attributes. The collaboration moved from proof of concept to a full solution in less than a year, and the platform is now in pilot phase with banks and consortiums worldwide, promising faster onboarding, reduced fraud risk, better privacy, and new KYC monetization opportunities.
