Gavea, a Brazilian agricultural technology startup, needed a better way to connect commodity buyers and sellers in a market that still relied heavily on phone-based, manual transactions. These processes made it difficult to track provenance, ensure fair pricing, and verify environmental and labor impact, while existing digital tools only optimized isolated parts of the supply chain. Vendor R3 helped address this with Corda Enterprise, a platform built for secure, private multi-party exchange.
R3 enabled Gavea to launch a digital commodities exchange where producers, resellers, and trading companies can trade, contract, and settle directly on one platform with end-to-end traceability and full price transparency. Built on Corda Enterprise and using Token SDK, the solution digitized every step of the commodity lifecycle, reduced reliance on middlemen and manual processes, and improved confidence in counterpart identity and ESG reporting. The result was lower transaction and execution costs, reduced operational risk, and higher profit margins for producers, with Gavea initially supporting soybeans and corn and planning to expand further.
