LedgerEdge, a corporate bond exchange, was tackling a major industry problem in the secondary bond market: persistent illiquidity caused by a lack of incentive to rest orders, which led to mispricing, limited feedback, and difficulty finding liquidity. Much of this OTC market still relied on chat messages and phone calls. The company worked with R3 and its Corda platform to address these challenges.

R3 helped LedgerEdge build a new ecosystem for exchanging financial assets and data, using Corda to share order information on a need-to-know basis while keeping users in control of their data through peer-to-peer transactions. The solution also enabled intelligent workflows and selective visibility for orders. As a result, LedgerEdge planned to go live in the UK in late 2021 and the US in early 2022, while onboarding 30 firms with more than 150 additional firms in the pipeline.
