Case Study: B3i achieves greater contract certainty and efficiency with R3's Corda Enterprise

B3i, a consortium-owned insurance initiative, needed to reduce the heavy manual processing, reconciliation issues, and contract uncertainty that slowed insurance and reinsurance transactions across many parties. Working with **R3**, B3i chose **Corda Enterprise** to power its Fluidity platform and initial B3i Reinsurance application, aiming to create a shared, interoperable infrastructure for the industry.

**R3**’s Corda Enterprise enabled B3i to launch the first live reinsurance blockchain application and support end-to-end treaty placement, accounting, and automatic near real-time reconciliation. In the first live placements, nine insurers, five major brokers, and 12 reinsurers participated, and **76%** of respondents reported a positive impact on auditability and contract certainty, with **62%** citing workflow efficiencies and reduced admin effort.
