HonorHealth sees $62M in savings by reducing length of stay

HonorHealth, a non-profit integrated health system in Arizona, partnered with Qventus to tackle inefficient patient flow, prolonged lengths of stay, and underutilized OR capacity. Using Qventus’ Inpatient and Perioperative Solutions (including Flow Prioritization and Operational Assistants), the system sought real-time automation and analytics to standardize discharge planning, free inpatient capacity, and improve scheduling and resource alignment.

Qventus deployed AI-driven tools—EDDs and disposition autopopulation, a Care Progression Manager, Insights Suite, and perioperative scheduling assistants—to automate workflows and prioritize tasks. The results include a 0.65‑day reduction in LOS per patient, 50,673 excess days saved, $62M saved from reduced excess days, 84 equivalent beds created, 86% of patients receiving early discharge plans, 62,549 EDDs autopopulated, and a 7% increase in high‑priority order completion. In the OR, HonorHealth saw a 79% year‑over‑year increase in case minutes performed within released blocks, +4% case volume, 3.3 additional cases per OR per month, a 9.6x ROI and $3.8M annualized contribution margin—demonstrating Qventus’ measurable operational and financial impact.
