The University of Fukui hospital improves hand hygiene procedures by 300%

University of Fukui Hospital, a leading special-purpose hospital focused on cutting-edge care, needed an affordable, high-accuracy way to enforce WHO hand hygiene guidelines without interrupting clinical workflows. To meet this challenge they selected a solution delivered by SATO Healthcare and CARECOM built on Quuppa RTLS technology, using Quuppa Locators and tags to provide precise indoor positioning and real-time proximity detection.

The Quuppa-based system installs overhead Locators, equips staff and disinfectant pumps with tags and sensors, and correlates location and pump usage to determine if hand hygiene was performed at the right time and place. With Quuppa technology at its core, the hospital achieved automated, nonintrusive monitoring and reported a more than 300% increase in hand hygiene events, supporting wider deployment across the facility.
