Sokolniki Park wanted an engaging, interactive attraction for its outdoor skating rink that would let skaters draw and share motion-based figures in real time. The challenge was to track moving skaters accurately in cold, open-air conditions and run autonomously for the duration of the promotion; the project used the Quuppa technology platform with Quuppa Tags and Locators to achieve this.

Quuppa supplied the positioning solution: 50 skates were fitted with Quuppa Tags and four Quuppa outdoor Locators covered the 5,000 m² rink, feeding data to a cloud web portal with a custom smoothing algorithm and a server-side data collection mechanism. The system operated autonomously for 15 days at temperatures down to −25°C, tracked up to 25 tags simultaneously, displayed selected tracks on a large screen in real time, and let users draw, erase, pause and publish results to social networks—demonstrating reliable real-time engagement and measurable field performance.
