Personnel tracking during MCI training at Heidelberg University Hospital

Heidelberg University Hospital conducted a mass casualty incident (MCI) training exercise to test its emergency response protocols but needed a way to accurately track personnel and patients to identify bottlenecks and optimize its processes. To gain these insights, the hospital partnered with vendor Quuppa and Favendo to implement an advanced real-time location system for the simulation.

The solution involved installing a Quuppa tracker infrastructure throughout the hospital building. Staff and mock patients were equipped with Quuppa tags, allowing their positions and movements to be recorded with sub-metre accuracy in real time. Vendor Quuppa's technology enabled the hospital to precisely analyze timelines and identify process inefficiencies, providing critical data that will be used to optimize emergency response strategies not just locally but across Europe.
