The Ministry of Health of Lesotho faced a major public health challenge: a high burden of tuberculosis, including drug-resistant TB, alongside HIV, malnutrition, and limited healthcare staff and resources in a hard-to-reach, mountainous country. To strengthen TB screening and diagnosis, it partnered with Qure.ai and Partners In Health, using Qure.ai’s qXR AI-powered chest X-ray solution.

Qure.ai’s qXR was deployed across seven locations in Lesotho to support community TB screening and help detect lung abnormalities quickly, even when symptoms were not obvious. Since July 2022, the system has processed more than 6,000 scans and identified about 1,100 potential TB cases, helping clinicians in remote areas improve detection and communicate findings more effectively.
