Case Study: Purnia District Healthcare Company improves TB screening with Qure.ai

AI helps overcome healthcare challenges in Bihar

Purnia District Healthcare Company, through the Christian Medical Centre and Hospital (CMCH) in Purnia, Bihar, faced major healthcare challenges in a poverty-stricken, underserved region with high tuberculosis burden and limited access to diagnostic facilities, trained staff, and timely screening. To help address this, Qure.ai provided its AI-powered chest X-ray screening tool, qXR, to support faster lung disease and TB triage in a resource-constrained setting.

Qure.ai’s qXR was deployed at CMCH with support from the SAMRIDH Blended Finance Facility, enabling dual screening for COVID-19 and lung diseases such as TB. The project processed around 2,500 chest X-rays, identified 299 TB-presumptive patients, and trained 13 health professionals plus 10 non-specialists. Qure.ai also supported a pediatric active case-finding camp that screened 1,169 people and flagged 8 minors as presumptive TB cases, helping expand access to early detection and community awareness.
