Case Study: Medica improves acute CT triage and reporting with Qure.ai qER

A transformative partnership to tackle acute imaging workload

Medica, a leading UK teleradiology provider supporting more than 100 NHS hospitals, faced growing acute imaging workloads and the need to rapidly identify critical head CT scans in its 24/7 NightHawkTM emergency reporting service. To improve prioritization and patient care, Medica turned to Qure.ai’s qER AI tool for non-contrast head CT triage and notification.

Qure.ai integrated qER into Medica’s NightHawkTM workflow so abnormal scans, especially suspected intracranial haemorrhage, could be flagged for faster review by allocation staff and radiologists. The solution processed about 200,000 scans in 2023 YTD, flagged 9.1% as critical, and alerted teams in about 100 seconds; Medica also reported around a 7% reduction in reporting times for positive cases, with 81% of reporters trusting the algorithm and 71% finding it helpful for prioritization and reporting.
