Prevention Research Center Conducts Legislative Research with Quorum

Penn State University’s Edna Bennett Pierce Prevention Research Center needed a better way to access and analyze large amounts of legislative data and statements from elected officials to study health policy conversations in Congress. Quorum provided the team with a more efficient, research-friendly alternative to government sites and academic databases, along with a way to identify and communicate with the right congressional staffers.

Using Quorum’s legislative database and Outbox email tool, the Center could run text searches across bills, compare legislative language with congressional communications, and quickly find and contact relevant staffers by issue area or title. The result was faster, more accurate research and improved outreach, helping the team produce work they believe is publishable in peer-reviewed journals, with Quorum enabling them to conduct analysis and experimentation in one place.
