Independent Sector, a national member organization representing nonprofits, needed to make sure nonprofits were included in congressional coronavirus relief legislation. As Congress moved quickly to consider paid leave and tax credits, the team faced the challenge of mobilizing advocates around a bill that was still taking shape and avoiding the sector being left out of relief efforts. They used Quorum to help coordinate the campaign.

With Quorum, Independent Sector ran a two-step advocacy campaign: first, letter-writing to members of Congress with broad messaging before the bill text was released, and then phone calls once the legislation became specific and a vote neared. They also used social sharing prompts to create an amplifier effect across their “network of networks.” The campaign drove over 40,000 emails to Capitol Hill from the letter portion alone, more than all of the organization’s campaigns from the previous year combined, and Quorum helped the team quickly build, distribute, and manage the call-to-action during a fast-moving policy moment.
