Origin Energy Saves Over $100M with Portfolio Management

Origin Energy faced significant challenges in managing their long-term field (LoF) development plans. Their process relied on a cumbersome, ad-hoc Excel-based system fed by multiple SQL databases, which made generating a single forecast cycle very long and comparing scenarios nearly impossible. To address this, they partnered with Quorum Software.

Quorum Software implemented a multi-phase solution. The initial phase used their PS Portfolio and CASH economic engine to enable the running of over 35 portfolio scenarios, providing strategic optionality that saved an estimated AUD$100 million. Subsequent phases introduced Quorum's Planning Space suite, including Dataflow and Economics, to become the trusted source for well-level data, resolving major data management issues and streamlining the entire forecasting and economic calculation process for their upstream development plan.
