PetroCard is a Pacific Northwest fuel distributor operating 60 cardlocks and 20 CNG sites, serving commercial fleets with a small four-person IT team that must maintain near-perfect uptime. Their legacy backup and disaster recovery approach was aging and unreliable (disk-to-tape, flaky VPN appliances), left only about half their servers protected, and produced RTO/RPOs measured in days—putting billing, site access and customer service at risk.

After evaluating options and running a rigorous proof-of-concept, PetroCard deployed Quorum’s onQ appliance, which simplified backups, enabled instant virtual recovery and required no extra recovery hardware. The result: full-scale DR tests show they can be operational in as little as two hours, an Exchange server was spun up in 30 minutes, they ran 45 days off the appliance with no user impact, and they saved roughly $100,000 versus the competing solution.
