SES, a global media services company serving major broadcasters and digital platforms, needed a more flexible and cost-efficient way to run its media cloud. Its existing NAS and SAN storage hit performance and scalability limits on critical workloads, while the team also wanted to reduce operational overhead and support uninterrupted media delivery.

Quobyte provided the software-defined storage foundation for SES’s OpenStack-based Media Cloud, integrating with Nova, Cinder, Manila, Keystone, and S3. With Quobyte, SES achieved linear performance scaling, low latency, high throughput, automated failover, and zero-downtime updates; the system also set up in about half an hour on four servers and delivered more than fivefold IOPS versus comparable solutions, enabling reliable and efficient media services.
