Vaisala Switches to Qumulo’s Data-Aware Scale-Out NAS to Handle Growing Volume, Variety and Velocity of Data for Modeling and Forecast

Vaisala, a global leader in environmental and industrial measurement, was struggling to manage a rapidly growing flood of sensor measurements and complex forecasting model data. Its older scale-out NAS system became difficult to manage and lacked visibility into what data was stored and how it was being used, creating performance and capacity challenges for Vaisala’s energy modeling and forecasting workloads. Qumulo’s modern scale-out storage platform was selected to address these issues.

Vaisala implemented Qumulo’s QC208 hybrid storage appliances with NFS, REST, and Qumulo Care support in a four-node cluster. Qumulo delivered faster performance, real-time analytics, and easier management, helping Vaisala identify bottlenecks quickly and cut reporting from days to instant insight. With Qumulo, Vaisala also began building API-based integrations to improve forecasting efficiency and freed its IT team to focus more on value-added work rather than storage administration.
