The SCI Institute at the University of Utah faced severe storage I/O bottlenecks that slowed imaging research, with large data sets taking months to process and little visibility into data usage for capacity planning. Qumulo’s scale-out storage software and QC24 hybrid storage appliances were used to address these challenges, alongside NFS, REST, and Qumulo Care support.

Qumulo implemented a modern, linearly scalable storage cluster that expanded performance and capacity without downtime, while providing real-time analytics into file usage. As a result, the SCI Institute cut image processing from 11–14 weeks to just nine days, eliminated throughput bottlenecks, and gained the visibility needed to make smarter archiving and storage management decisions.
