Modernizing an Industrial IoT data stack for processing machine sensor data

Industrial Machine Builder, a €3B industrial machine builder, needed to replace deprecated Flux tasks in InfluxDB and move away from batch processing of machine sensor data. The team wanted a more flexible alternative to SQL for statistical calculations and also hoped to modernize toward real-time industrial IoT processing without adding infrastructure complexity.

Quix provided a Python-native, fully managed pipeline using Quix Cloud, Quix Streams, MQTT support, and an InfluxDB connector. Industrial Machine Builder used Quix to stream data from InfluxDB into Kafka, run continuously operating Python processes for real-time analysis, and write results back to InfluxDB, with plans to extend the system to edge devices and MQTT-based collection for remote machines with patchy connectivity.
