A Quip Case Study

Vancouver Public Library, Collaborative Writing, and The Food Truck Wars

The Vancouver Public Library Foundation ran a live TOUCH fundraising event where two authors would collaboratively write a short story onstage and prepare it for publication in the Vancouver Sun. They needed a simple, real-time master document to project and edit together, so they chose Quip as the collaborative writing tool to replace the disjointed Google Docs/IRC workflow.

Quip supplied a single live document with commenting and editing tools (and a beta bookmarklet to hide the sidebar from the audience), enabling smooth onstage collaboration and easy export to Word for publication. Using Quip the team produced a complete short story in about four hours, delivered a clean projected experience for attendees, and helped the Vancouver Public Library Foundation raise funds to build Canada’s first Interactive Creation Center.
