A QuintessenceLabs Case Study
NetDocuments, a global leader in cloud-based document and email management, needed to expand its databases and strengthen protection for billions of documents as customer demand grew. To maintain its security leadership and support future scale, it sought best-in-class key management for generating and securing master and document encryption keys, with strong requirements for security, interoperability, flexibility, and performance. QuintessenceLabs provided the key management foundation for this effort.
QuintessenceLabs implemented multiple redundant Trusted Security Foundation (TSF) key and policy manager appliances in NetDocuments data centers worldwide, using a multi-master architecture for highly available key generation, storage, and lifecycle management. The solution uses quantum-based true random number generation for full-entropy keys, supports layered encryption and dual control options, and integrates with existing infrastructure through vendor-neutral interfaces. As a result, NetDocuments can grow its data centers and customer base without sacrificing security, manage multiple encryption layers, and support hundreds of millions of uniquely encrypted documents with room for expansion.
