A Quickbase Case Study
Metso, a global leader in process performance and flow control for industries like oil & gas and mining, faced coordination challenges managing complex engineered orders across planning, engineering, procurement and manufacturing. Order-management processes were not standardized, critical data lived in silos (ERP, inventory, planning), communications relied on email, and staff suddenly needed to work remotely during the COVID-19 outbreak — all of which made tracking workloads, identifying risks, and sharing work difficult.
Metso built a suite of Quick Base applications that regularly pull ERP, planning and inventory data into a centralized system, enable assignment and tracking of action items, provide custom reports and automated Engineering Change Notices, and allow rapid app development to support remote workflows. The solution standardized order processes, improved visibility and factory-to-factory communication, saved more than $1 million annually, eliminated six engineering man‑months, cut up to 500 hours of work, and sped issue detection and customer order tracking across global sites.
