A Questionmark Case Study

Southwest Gas Corporation saving time and improving security with online assessments

Southwest Gas Corporation, a natural gas utility serving nearly 2 million customers with more than 2,400 employees, needed to secure and streamline its high‑stakes employee and contractor testing—300–400 different tests (10–60 questions each) administered over 8,500 times per year to certify skills like welding, pipe joining and pipeline operations. To replace time‑consuming, insecure paper exams and enable question randomization, Southwest Gas turned to Questionmark, using its assessment management system (including Questionmark Secure and planned use of Questionmark Live).

Questionmark delivered a secure, automated assessment platform that locks down desktops, randomizes questions, provides immediate scoring and offers detailed reporting. As a result, Southwest Gas reduced manual test creation and shredding, strengthened test integrity against leaked answers, and gained analytics to validate questions and improve training—allowing the company to manage thousands of annual assessments more efficiently and securely with Questionmark.
