A Questionmark Case Study
Onondaga Community College’s Department of Nursing needed to move from paper exams to secure computerized testing after the NCLEX licensing exam went computer-based. The college adopted Questionmark (initially Questionmark for Windows and later Questionmark Secure/Questionmark Secure Browser) to deliver computer-based exams, address test-security concerns in a non‑proctored lab, and support remote students.
Questionmark’s secure browser and item-randomization features lock down machines, prevent access to the Internet or other applications, and allow students to take tests remotely at secure hospital sites via a URL. As a result, the department runs over 100 exams across all nursing courses with immediate results and remediation, reduced cheating risk through randomized blocks, supported multiple retakes, and kept costs down by hosting Questionmark on the school server and using in‑house IT.
