Online Learning and Questionmark Give Failing Children a Second Chance

El Paso Independent School District launched an Online Academy to give at-risk, failing students a second chance by offering remedial courses outside regular class time. Faced with students who had fallen behind and often lacked computer skills, the district created interactive orientation lessons and needed a way to assess progress without overburdening teachers—so they adopted Questionmark’s computerized testing and reporting system.

Questionmark was integrated into the academy to deliver and grade assessments, using randomized questions from a large bank, a weighted gradebook, and support for WebQuests, essays and synchronized video‑based questions. The solution reduced cheating, eased teachers’ workload and produced strong early results—for example, one school saw 11 of 15 enrolled students pass—demonstrating Questionmark’s measurable impact on helping struggling students succeed.
